NRCA Partners with Roof Express to Support the Roofing Industry with
New Technology Tools and Resources
Miami, FL – The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and Roof Express, LLC are working in partnership to bring business solutions to the commercial roofing industry by introducing new resources and services that help roofing professionals work more accurately, efficiently and profitably.
The Roof Express data collection tool combines a handheld personal digital assistant/camera (PDA) and a portable Global Positioning System (GPS) unit to quickly and accurately measure, inventory, photograph and record rooftop components and defects. The system provides a seamless transfer of information collected on the roof to an Internet database with roof condition assessment reporting and project development capabilities.
The Roof Express data model includes detailed information from The NRCA Roofing and Waterproofing Manual, Fifth Edition, and the NRCA Repair Manual as criteria to use when collecting data on the roof.
Florida Repair Centers, Inc., based in Miami, Florida has purchased the rights to utilize the Roof Express Global Positioning Satellite with PDA computers and has integrated the system into their “Reflective Roofing Lifetime Warranty Maintenance Program.”
Using thermal imaging digital cameras, Tramex Moisture Meters and non-contact digital thermometers, the roofs are inspected by State Certified Roofing and General Contractors under the supervision of a State Public Engineer with the results compiled by Florida Home Energy & Resources Organization, Inc., independent energy analysts and building science consultants in Gainesville, the home of the University of Florida Solar Energy and Energy Conversion Lab.
The results are presented in an easy to use format that utilizes the new “Roof Condition Scoring” (RCS) that has been developed by the U.S Air Force and is being adopted by the NRCA as the industry standard for accurate analysis and grading of commercial roofing systems.
Each of Florida Repair Centers clients has 24/7 access to a licensed roofing and general contractor, immediate hurricane response and around the clock access to a password protected record of their building systems including any proposed work, digital pictorial records (before and after), satellite images, thermal images, moisture testing results, warranties, work orders and scheduled maintenance program details.
Working in unison with Florida’s electricity suppliers, such as FPL and Federal agencies such as the EPA and DOE, Florida Repair Centers helps their clients qualify for rebates and substantial energy savings from this comprehensive approach to building construction and maintenance.
